During its early years, Hale-Mills Construction performed work for a variety of end users, concentrating in the Houston metropolitan area. Hale-Mills Construction was the contractor of choice for several of the city’s business leaders, including Bob Onstead, the original owner of the Randall’s grocery chain. Many Randall’s stores operating throughout Houston today were built by Hale-Mills Construction.
Diverse Projects, Consistent Results
Hale-Mills Construction continued to expand into different commercial/retail markets. Hale-Mills Construction built a variety of projects, including automobile dealerships, professional buildings, retail stores, schools and hotels. Hale-Mills Construction was the “go to” contractor for end users desiring on-time delivery of quality work for a fair price.
As its portfolio of commercial projects grew, so did Hale-Mills Construction’s reputation for quality, timeliness and integrity. Because business leaders are often leaders in their church congregations, Hale-Mills Construction was eventually contacted about building houses of worship. After successfully completing some initial high-profile church projects, the company received many more opportunities to design and build houses of worship in Houston and the surrounding community.
With each new project, the Hale-Mills Construction team became confident that their proven design/build approach could be widely applied and set their sights on new markets. In 1986, the company built its first correctional facility. Hale-Mills Construction discovered that the lessons learned in the commercial/retail markets enabled them to design and construct correctional and detention facilities in an unparalleled way. Hale-Mills Construction completed correctional and government facility projects in a time frame that could not be matched by the competition and for a price that was very attractive to end users. These qualities translated into multiple projects in the corrections market across the U.S. Over time, this experience has propelled Hale-Mills Construction to even further improvements in time and cost delivery.
The Culture: Keep Your Promises
Today, Hale-Mills Construction is one of the corrections industry’s preeminent builders of detention facilities and government complexes. Still recognized for its strong expertise in designing and building commercial projects and houses of worship, Hale-Mills Construction enjoys success in all three sectors.
Hale-Mills’ leaders will tell you that the company’s remarkable success is built on one simple philosophy: keep your promises. It has earned them a solid reputation backed by proven results and, most importantly, strong endorsements from satisfied clients.
